MT-A401 Elementary Theory of Probability
Syllabus, Assessment and Test Dates

Course Goals

  1. Develop a thorough understanding of the concepts and techniques of the theory of probability.
  2. Develop the ability to apply your knowledge of probability to solve problems.
  3. Learn the theory needed to develop basic statistical theory (discussed in MT-A402).
  4. Further develop your ability to work effectively with others on mathematics problems.

Chapter 3: Discrete Random Variables and Their Probability Distributions
Chapter 4: Continuous Random Variables and Their Probability Distributions
Chapter 5: Multivariate Probability Distributions
Chapter 6: Functions of Random Variables
Chapter 7: Sampling Distributions and the Central Limit Theorem
Assessment

Test 2: Friday, October 24
