Math 403 Probability and Statistics for Engineers


General Information, Syllabus, Assessment and Test Dates

Undergraduate Catalog Description: Analyzing and producing data; probability; random variables; probability distributions; expectation; sampling distributions; confidence intervals; hypothesis testing; experimental design; regression and correlation analysis. Credit not given for both MATH 403 and either MATH 401 or MATH 402. Fall and Spring semesters. Prerequisite: Math 244.

Objectives

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the concepts and techniques of the theory of probbility
  • Further develop the ability to apply your knowledge to solve problems
  • (Further) develop skills for working effectively with others on mathematics problems

Chapter 8: Fundamental Sampling Distributions and Data Descriptions
Chapter 9: One- and Two-Sample Estimation Problem
Chapter 10: One- and Two-Sample Tests of Hypotheses
Chapter 11: Simple Linear Regression and Correlation
Chapter 12: Multiple Linear Regression and Certain Nonlinear Regression Models (12.1-12.6)
