Math 618 Topics in Algebra: Homological Algebra
General Information, Syllabus, and Assessment
Objective
The (possibly overly ambitious) goal of the course is to cover the topics required to reach the material on cohomology of groups (see Chapter 9 of the text) by the end of the semester.
Topics
Categories and functors, simplicial and singular homology, Hom and tensor products, special module and rings, abelian categories, homology, Tor and Ext, homology and groups.
