Airport Information
Saint Louis is served by Lambert-St. Louis International Airport (18 miles from Saint Louis University). There are several options for transportation to campus if you do not rent a car.
- Laclede Cab (314-652-3456 or 314-652-TAXI) advertises a $25 rate from the airport to downtown or midtown (where the conference and accommodations are located). To get this rate you need to arrange for Laclede cab to pick you up at the airport, either by calling them on arrival or by using their service that arranges for a cab to meet your flight. Get your cab at the reserved taxi stand. If you take a cab from the regular taxi stand, the fare is likely to exceed $30 (perhaps significantly more, with surcharges). Signs in the baggage claim area direct you to the taxi stands.
- TransExpress, Inc. operates a shuttle that will stop and pick up at the Water Tower Inn. $15 one way or $25 return. Ask about airport pick-up location when making a reservation.
- Metrolink light rail trains run from both terminals at the airport. Disembark the train at Grand station, located between the Water Tower Inn and the conference location. One way fare is $2. This option is only recommended for the intrepid participant - it is about a half mile walk from the station along a busy street with rough sidewalks to the conference location and just over a mile in the opposite direction to the Water Tower Inn. If you do take Metrolink from the airport, proceed up to Grand Boulevard by steps or elevator after disembarking the train. Walk north to reach the conference location. Between the hours of 3 pm and 3 am the Saint Louis University Department of Public Safety can transport arriving participants from the Grand Metrolink station to either the Water Tower Inn or the Manresa Center using a minivan. To arrange for this service, call the Department of Public Safety at (314)977-7433 once you arrive at the Grand station.
Campus Maps
Printable campus maps - conference registration and sessions will be held in Building 23 on the Northern Campus map, while the Water Tower Inn is located in Building 19 on the Southern/Medical Center campus map. The Manresa Center is shown at the top left of the Northern campus map. The Accommodation page shows a map at the bottom with all three locations marked. An enlarged portion of the northern campus map that shows the conference location is shown at the bottom of this page.
Conference Shuttle
Shuttle service will be provided between the conference location, the Water Tower Inn and the Manresa Center before and after each day's sessions. Further details will be available closer to the conference.
Parking
Guests staying at either the Water Tower Inn or the Manresa Center have free parking at those locations and may choose to ride our shuttle to the conference location. For those who wish to drive to campus, visitor parking is available in the Laclede garage on campus (Building 24 (purple) on the Northern campus map), one block from the conference location. A $4 day pass can be purchased at conference registration to avoid paying the hourly rate. Parking on Sunday is free. Please tell us if you need parking passes when you indicate interest in attending Zassenhaus 2007 so that an appropriate number of parking passes are available. You may park in the garage before you receive the passes, but must have a pass to exit the garage.
Computer Access
Conference participants will have access to the internet on computers in a computer lab during the following hours:
- Friday March 16: 12 noon - 5 p.m.
- Saturday March 17: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Sunday March 18: 8:30 a.m. - 12 noon
Participants will also have guest access to the university wireless network. Information on accessing the network will be provided to interested conference participants at registration upon arrival.

The conference banquet will be held the evening of Saturday, March 17. Details are available on the program page for Saturday evening.

Breakfast snacks (pastries, muffins, donuts, fruit plate, etc.) will be provided Saturday and Sunday mornings along with coffee and tea.

Zassenhaus 2007 will occur at the end of the Saint Louis University spring break. As a result, university dining facilities will be operating on limited schedules. Au Bon Pain will be open in the Busch Student Center (adjacent to the conference location) 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16.

- Gary's Restaurant (lunch and dinner buffet or order from the menu; jazz from 7:30 p.m.) - 601 N. Grand Blvd., four blocks from conference location.
- Nadoz Euro Bakery & Cafe (sophisticated casual menu under $10; decadent desserts) - 3701 Lindell Blvd., three blocks from conference location.
- Crazy Bowls & Wraps - 3852 Lindell Blvd., four blocks from conference location.
- Sun Rise Chinese Restaurant (lunch only - few tables, primarily take-out) - 3506 Washington Blvd., four blocks from conference location.
- The Bistro at Grand Center (a lively restaurant and club) - 3536 Washington Avenue, three blocks from conference location. Dinner reservations strongly recommended.

Personal Safety
Saint Louis University, the Water Tower Inn and the Manresa Center are located in the mid-town area of St. Louis. While you are within any of these locations you are secure. As with any urban center, you should use common sense regarding your personal safety when walking off campus or in the areas around the Water Tower Inn or the Manresa Center, particularly at night-time.
- Travel in a group, particularly at night.
- Be aware of your surroundings. In particular, it is recommended that you not walk on side streets or in alleys around the Water Tower Inn or the Manresa Center at night.
- Saint Louis University Department of Public Safety provides a minivan campus escort service from 3 pm to 3 am. Call (314)977-7433. For emergencies on campus call (314)977-3000.

- Lecture Halls (23). Main entrance is on the west side, with stairs descending to the lobby area for the lecture halls.
- Shannon Hall (48). For those preferring to not negotiate stairs, an elevator to a hallway that connects to the lecture hall lobby is located in Shannon Hall.
- Ritter Hall (45). Home of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. Computer access will be arranged in this building. Elevators are located in the hallway at the north end of the building.
- Busch Student Center (7). Location of the Saturday buffet lunch; also the location of Au Bon Pan, which will be open on Friday until 2 p.m.
- Laclede parking garage (purple). Enter from Laclede Avenue.
